This tutorial gives detailed instructions on how to make a intermediate Flamingo cane. The cane is large and the techniques involved mean that you should have intermediate skills in cane making and large cane reduction. The steps involved are basic, so if you're a quick study it might be a pleasant challenge.
The tutorial is broken down into 18 basic steps (making body, making wing, etc), but there are lots of sub-steps in each basic step. The whole process is illustrated with 37 photos. Enjoy!
Materials: Polymer Clay – hot pink or salmon (2 blocks or blend your own to make 2 5x5” sheets, the salmon I used was 2 parts yellow, one part red, and one part orange), white (3 blocks), black (1 block), & translucent (2-4 blocks, a firmer clay such as Kato is recommended for best results)
Tools: Pasta Machine, Straight Blade, Acrylic roller or brayer, small oval or diamond shape cutter, ruler or graduated work surface (such as a self-healing quilter's mat)
Upon confirmation of payment, you will be emailed the pdf. If you wish it sent to an email other than that you use with payment, please send me a message. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to open and read this pdf. The latest version for personal computers can be found here: https://get.adobe.com/reader. You can also download an App for mobile devices.
