The World Turtle |
This turtle class is a two day master class version of my turtles, fetishes and boxes class below. The turtle is extra large and comes with a beautiful landscape scene on it's back.
This class is meant for experienced clay artists who are comfortable with making canes, blends, and simple sculpting. In this class, I will lead you through creating this beautiful turtle box. The first day of class, we'll create your forms for your turtle, the advanced Skinner blends for the sky and grass, form and reduce our tree and border cane, and create our turquoise mix The second day we create the different color blends for the mountains, decorate our box and sculpt the different flowers and the turtle base. The class includes patterns for the turtle box form. Workshop attendees can purchase a detailed written tutorial of the class for $10 or it can be included as part of the class fee. This class can also be offered as a 3 day class with the one day version of the Turtles, Fetishes, and Boxes class as the first day. It's a great way to ramp up your skills so your group has great success on their final project! |
Turtles and Fetishes and Boxes, OH MY! |
This turtle has a secret! It's also a fun box for gifts or hidden treasures. A large one can hang on the wall as a secret place to keep computer passwords, keys, etc.
In this class, I will lead you through creating either a turtle box, a simple box or a fetish pendant. This can be either a one day or a two day class, but I highly recommend two days. In the one day class, I'll go through the steps to create your forms for your turtle, fetish, or box. We'll create one or two canes for decoration depending on class time, create our turquoise mix, then cover and decorate our form. In the two day class, we'll create multiple forms - depending on your desire, more canes including a border cane on day one. The second day we devote to decorating, covering and finishing. And for either a one day or two day class, I'll bring along my 'bone yard' of canes for you to use to embellish your designs. The class includes patterns for the turtle box form and 3 different fetish forms. Workshop attendees can purchase a detailed written tutorial of the class for $10 or it can be included as part of the class fee. |
Morning Singer Kachina
|
Native American Culture is an integral part of American history. Kachinas are used as storytellers and teachers. The Morning Singer Kachina or Talavai wake the Hopi people by singing in pairs from the rooftops. During the day, they prompt the other kachinas and lead them in song. They have a small spruce tree in one hand and a bell in the other.
In this class, Deb Hart will lead you through creating this beautiful Native American inspired piece. You will learn how to create a 3-color feather cane and an intricate leaf cane, to build a base from scrap clay and create a imbedded pin back, and mold finish your piece with simple sculpting techniques. This is a full day class. The class includes patterns for the base and kachina face and you can find instructions for preparing your Skinner bullseye plug and your feather base on Flickr at https://www.flickr.com/photos/rengalsa/16895127328/ . Workshop attendees can purchase a detailed written tutorial of the class for $10. |

Cane Sculpted
|
Owls have become so very popular. My original owl pendant was a work of pure inspiration. I had left over canes on my work bench and some scrap clay forms. I was looking at them and soon had a little owl in from of me.
This class is a full day class that is meant to be taken in conjunction with the Kachina or Fox class. We will be repurposing canes from the previous work day and creating new ones. You will also learn to sculpt the little owl faces onto earring or snap on ring findings. I will be adding an additional class prep video soon! There is a $6 workshop supply fee for the earring and ring findings. Workshop attendees can also purchase a detailed written tutorial of the class for $10. |
